Open PhD position in Computational Molecular Physics at the University of Rostock, Germany. The Molecular Quantum Dynamics group at the University of Rostock announces a PhD position within a project focussed on Infrared Laser Control of Chemical Reaction Dynamics. The goal is to develop strategies for accelerating chemical reactions in the electronic ground state by means of ultrafast laser pulses in the infrared domain. On the methodological side, the project will be based on ab initio molecular dynamics, high-dimensional nuclear wave packet propagation, and laser control theory. The specific applications will be on systems that can be used for nanopolymerization. The project involves close cooperation with experiment. For more info on the Molecular Quantum Dynamics group at the Institute of Physics, University of Rostock. http://web.physik.uni-rostock.de/quantendynamik/ The successful candidate will have a Master or Diploma in Physics or Chemistry with a focus on theory. While knowledge of the German language is not required, the candidate should have good communication skills in English. The salary is according to German standards (TVL E13, 50%). The targeted starting date is January 1, 2018, the initial appointment will be for three years. Applications should be sent to oliver.kuehn@uni-rostock.de
